Sustainability

Ecological, social and economic measures are given high priority. In this process, we take a close look at areas such as mobility, catering, waste management, printed materials and much more and try to implement as many sustainable measures as possible.

World Athletics is also committed to ensuring that its athletics events are aligned with the principles of sustainability. Their strategy includes a broad commitment to embrace sustainability principles and practices.

The Meeting Götzis was awarded the GOLD Level by the WA in 2024.

  • World Athletics education courses
World Athletics has developed an education course on the basics of safeguarding for everyone involved in athletics. The course is available on the World Athletics e-learning platform in seven languages and provides a basic awareness of why everyone is responsible for safety.

  • Fair Play and Anti-discrimination
The prohibition of discrimination is based on the principle of equal treatment, which states that no one may be disadvantaged on the basis of the following characteristics:
> Age > Disability > Ethnic origin > Gender > Religion or belief > Sexual orientation

As the organisers of the Hypomeeting Götzis, we regard fair play as fundamental. Beyond adherence to the competition rules, fair play also encompasses the attitude and conduct of all those involved.
