Götzis, 17 April 2024 – Athletics fans and visitors at the Hypomeeting Götzis/Vorarlberg can look forward to an international field of athletes that promises an exciting competition weekend on the athletes‘ road to Rome and Paris. International combined events stars from Europe and overseas will meet national athletics stars, when Götzis turns into the Mecca of the international combined events world for the 49th time. 

International starting field prepares for Götzis: The organizers currently have 33 athletes from 14 nations confirmed for the women's heptathlon and 29 athletes from 14 nations for the men's decathlon. In total, the starting field at this year's Hypomeeting includes 21 different nations. For many athletes, the road to the Olympic Games in Paris will lead via Götzis. Other athletes will be competing in Götzis as their first and only competition before the European Championships in Rome at the beginning of June or before the Olympic Games in Paris this summer and have already qualified. Considering these two important major events for European athletes, the organizers are particularly happy to announce that Anouk Vetter (NED), silver medalist at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo and Götzis 2022 winner, is due to compete in Götzis as a heptathlete who has already qualified for both major events this year. 

Home game for the Austrians: At this year's showdown in the Mösle Stadium in Götzis, the national heptathlon stars will be back on stage. Not only the local heroes Isabel Posch and Chiara Schuler will be competing again. Four other Austrian heptathletes are also confirmed for Götzis 2024: Ivona Dadic, Sarah Lagger and Verena Mayr are three familiar faces returning to the combined events stage at the Mösle Stadium in Götzis, and additionally Upper Austrian Sophie Kreiner will be making her Götzis debut. 19-year-old Kreiner won the bronze medal at last year's U20 European Championships in Jerusalem with 5698 points.
