The qualifying races for the "Montfort Track Challenge" hypomeeting junior competition took place in the sunshine today.
A total of around 250 motivated children and young people from 38 different clubs and schools took part in four age groups. There were a total of 394 starts across all distances this Friday afternoon.
A total of 64 athletes competed in the 50 meter sprint in the U10 age group and 76 athletes in the U12 age group, while 47 (U10) and 57 (U12) athletes took part in the 600 meter middle distances.
The older age groups showed their skills in the 75 meter sprint (U14: 52 participants) and 100 meter sprint (U16: 33 participants) as well as in the middle distances over 600 meters (U14: 38 participants) and 800 meters (U16: 27 participants).
The fastest runners in each age group qualified today for the finals at the 51st Hypomeeting on May 30/May 31 at the Mösle Stadium in Götzis.
