and her team welcomed numerous sponsors and partners of the Hypomeeting to a wine tasting in the village center in Koblach. The Polsterer winery from Lower Austria, which has been a partner of the meeting for more than two decades, presented new wines, offered a suitable wine accompaniment for each course and invited the guests to take part in an exciting wine rally.
The guests were treated to culinary delights by Michael Malin, who has been responsible for catering for athletes during the meeting weekend for more than 10 years. The event was accompanied musically by the a-capella formation Göfner 4-xang, which presented wine songs, well-known catchy tunes and humorous performances to match the evening.
Of course, an insight into the people behind the annual athletics event was not to be missed. Starting with Susanne Knünz-Kopf from the meeting office, the eight-member, purely voluntary organization team introduced themselves to the guests with their diverse tasks for and at the meeting and also with their private working lives. In ascending order of the number of years on the committee, these are
Benjamin Cermak, Verena Wiederin, Clemens Fröhlich, Anna Riedmann, Michael Riedmann, Sophie Hotz, President Alexandra Giesinger and
Walter Weber, who has been part of the OC team for over 20 years. All of them, as well as the more than 500 volunteers, make it possible for the meeting to become an annual international highlight in the world of sport.
The OC President and Walter Weber reviewed five decades of all-around history. In addition, the ambitious goal of perhaps even achieving platinum status in terms of sustainability initiatives in the future is being pursued - after the gold status of the Athletics For A Better World standard was recently achieved with a very high number of points.
