More than an Athletics Event

Tradition since 1975 – A Fixed Appointment on the Last Weekend in May

The Hypomeeting Götzis is one of the most prestigious combined events competitions in the world. Since 1975, it has taken place every year at the Mösle Stadium in Götzis and has been a permanent highlight on the international athletics calendar from the very beginning. Each year, the unique atmosphere transforms the Mösle Stadium in the tiny market town of Götzis, home to 12,000 residents, into a two-day athletics festival. It attracts athletics experts, families, and enthusiastic sports fans alike.

Volunteering and Passion

The Hypomeeting is organized by more than 500 volunteers – throughout the year, in the week of the meet and on the competition days, entirely on a voluntary basis.

This unique commitment not only makes the event possible from an organizational standpoint, but also stands as a remarkable example of community spirit. What is created here is much more than a sporting event: it is an expression of togetherness and passion.

World-Class Athletics in the Heptathlon and Decathlon

Year after year, the world’s best track and field athletes come together in Götzis to compete in the women’s heptathlon and the men’s decathlon. The elite lineup, the family-friendly atmosphere, and the closeness to the stars make Hypomeeting a true highlight for both athletes and fans.

Sustainability as a Guiding Principle

At the Hypomeeting, sustainability is not just a buzzword, but a lived responsibility. In 2024, the event was awarded the Athletics For A Better World - Gold Standard for the first time - an honor achieved by only a handful of major athletics events worldwide.

For Hypomeeting Götzis, sustainability means…

…a lived responsibility:

  • Reducing environmental impact, protecting nature, and avoiding waste wherever possible
  • Promoting regionality
  • Inclusion
  • Health
  • Family-friendliness
  • Careful use of our resources and reduced environmental impact

With the Hypomeeting Götzis, we aim to serve as a role model for events in Vorarlberg, Austria, and around the world. The goal is to demonstrate how a major sporting event can successfully integrate sustainability measures on all levels - today and in the future.

Focus on Youth Development

A central mission of the Hypomeeting is fostering the next generation of track and field talent. Each year, three different youth competitions are organized to inspire children and young people to get involved in sports and to encourage long-term participation in athletics.

The finals take place during Hypomeeting week or directly on the competition weekend, in front of a large and unique crowd—an unforgettable experience for up-and-coming athletes.

  • Montfort Track Challenge: Individual races in sprint and middle-distance events.
  • Mösle Relay Challenge: Team sprint relays, open to kids being club members and/or non-members, kids being part of sports club teams but also from other leisure clubs and teams.
  • Kids’ Athletics Challenge: A playful introduction to the basic movements of athletics, practiced during school physical education classes and submitted as results for the Kids' Athletics Challenge.

In this way, Hypomeeting not only creates a stage for the world’s elite athletes but also makes a valuable contribution to developing the next generation of young talents.
