Personal bests, dream weather and a great atmosphere on day 1
Götzis/Vorarlberg, May 31, 2025, 09:00 a.m.
The sun presented itself in the bright blue sky above the "Theater of dreams".
The Möslestadion invites you to daydream on the Hypomeeting anniversary weekend and is transformed minute by minute into a festival site for all-around enthusiasts.
The Hypomeeting is celebrating its anniversary - and is still as unique an experience as it was 50 years ago. That's why it's almost magical what happens in the stadium hours before the actual start of the competition.
The heptathletes then started their two days of competition punctually at 11:05
Erin Marsh (USA) and Michelle Atherley (USA) are the fastest in the 100m hurdles with 12.93 seconds each; Anna Hall (USA) wins the subsequent high jump with an
extraordinary 1.95m.
At the press conference on Friday, Anna Hall defined her personal goal for the
weekend as "to perform better than she has since her knee operation" - and after four of seven events, she won two (high jump, shot put), both of them with a new personal best!
In the final 200m race, new personal bests lit up the results lists: 12 out of 24
athletes achieved a new PB in the 200m, which once again underlined the fantastic atmosphere in the stadium with over 7000 athletics fans.
5/10 disciplines with a continuous stream of personal bests - and a meeting record!
The men's decathlon was also spectacular, with no less than 13 of the 34 athletes setting personal bests in the 100 m in the opening discipline, creating a great atmosphere and enthusiasm. The first discipline was won by Ayden Owens-Delerme (PUR) with 10.33 seconds, just ahead of the Götzis series winner Damian Warner (CAN) with 10.39 seconds.
The following long jump was won by the Swiss Simon Ehammer with a magnificent 8.34 meters.
Also in the following in the shot put, the curve was densely populated with knowledgeable fans, and the unique Mösle atmosphere certainly contributed to the fact that two athletes threw over the 16m mark: Ayden Owens-Delerme (16.19m) and Kyle Garland (USA, 16.14m). Leo Neugebauer (GER) just missed the 16m mark with 15.93m as his best throw. Owens-Delerme 's distance was so good that he was able to start the high jump with the leader's bib after the shot put.
In the high jump, Sander Skotheim (NOR) and Kyle Garland (USA) created a sensational atmosphere in the opposite corner when they won the discipline with jumps of 2.15m.
In the final 400m race, a number of new PBs once again lit up the results lists - and not only that, as Ayden Owens-Delerme won the 400m race with a new meeting
record. With a strong 46.20 seconds, he broke the meeting record of 46.46 seconds set by Ashley Moloney (AUS) in 2023.
The first heat of the 400m was also particularly pleasing, in which Austria's
Matthias Lasch set a new personal best of 49.45 seconds - his third PB in the
competition so far on day 1.
The hurdles for tomorrow's opening discipline in the decathlon are prepared, the food supplies have been replenished
Götzis is ready for day 2
More exciting disciplines and the best athletics weather await the expert all-around audience. It starts at 10:05 a.m. - better be in the stadium earlier, because there is a lot to discover in the stadium even before the start of the 110m hurdles in the decathlon.
