Sustainable commitment - for a better athletics future
Our demands
We attach great importance to sustainability.
Ecological, social and economic measures are very important to us. In this process, we take aclose look at areassuch as mobility, catering, waste management, printed materials and much more and try to implement as many sustainable measures as possible.
We know that we are not yet perfect. For us, it is important that we DO. And in the spirit of sport: we want to get better and better from now on!
If you have any questions about certification, Alexandra will be happy to help.
Hotels With the "Hotel am Garnmarkt" in Götzis and the "Hotel Montfort" in Feldkirch, we have the perfect hotel partners for our athletes. Sustainability is a major concern for both of them, which is why they implement a variety of measures themselves.
We look forward to you spending your stay in one of the many eco-label-certified or organic hotels in Vorarlberg.
Gastronomy
Our food and drink menus focus on organically grown and fairly traded food - preferably from the region, a contribution to regional value creation.
In cooperation with the Vorarlberg lemonade brand VoÜs, only glass bottles are served in the stadium.
Your drinking bottle can also be filled with Götzner tap water at any time.
Waste & recycling
Our printed materials are produced according to defined guidelines. We take care to produce less waste and to recycle the waste that is still produced through good waste separation. You will therefore notice that we are increasingly using reusable products when serving food and drinks.
How can you help us on our way?
Please take the crockery and reusable containers (bottles, glasses) back to the return stations.
Dispose of your own waste at the waste collection stations in the bins provided. Overview of the separation stations.
Athlete ambassador
For Chiara Schuler, a heptathlete from Vorarlberg, the topic of sustainability is very essential. She is particularly interested in environmental measures, opportunities for young talent and fair play.

Gala evening
To conclude our anniversary meeting, we hosted a gala evening for athletes and friends.
One of the programme’s highlights was a captivating performance by
“Tanzhaus Hohenems”.
Specially composed for our occasion, their piece earned standing ovations from the audience. Engaging this group was a deliberate choice, as they are world-class in their field. We also wished to highlight the remarkable opportunities and inspiration that inclusion can create.
As a further distinction, the group was subsequently invited to perform at the Inclusive Festival in Rostock (GER), organised by former decathlete Christian Schenk.

Christian Schenk
"In a moment full of goosebumps and radiant emotion, they were privileged to be part of a very special night: the after-show party for the 50th anniversary of the world-famous decathlon meeting in Götzis, Vorarlberg – the most important venue in the international athletics scene.
What initially began with a touch of reserve developed into an unforgettable performance, crowned at the end with nothing less than a standing ovation from the world's best decathletes and heptathletes.
A truly magical moment!
A huge THANK YOU from the dancers went to the incomparable elite sports audience that came from four continents. The spectators and listeners (many athletes during the dance performance surprisingly (emotionally?) put on sunglasses).
The midnight finale of the 50th anniversary of the Hypomeeting will be unforgettable, especially thanks to these dancers. And motivating... they did Götzis moves!"
Statements of our sponsors
Wolfgang Beichler - Hypo Vorarlberg Bank AG
"At Hypo Vorarlberg, sustainability has long been a central element and an important strategic dimension. Hypo Vorarlberg is aware of its responsibility and opportunities as a financial institution and makes a contribution to a future worth living on many levels."
"We can only shape the future together. Today, we are already setting the course for tomorrow and actively addressing the challenges of climate change. Every contribution counts and brings us closer to a livable future.
A key element is our cooperation with the Hypomeeting: together we implement numerous sustainability projects – such as the initiative “50 Trees for 50 Years of Hypomeeting”. In this way, we connect sport, community, and climate action.
You can find more projects and activities from our sustainability initiatives online - Instagram, Facebook, Website."
Christian Beer - Robotunits GmbH
"It is crucial to differentiate between environmental protection and climate change. Our focus is clearly on sustainable environmental protection. That's why, for example, we rely exclusively on renewable energies such as solar energy and geothermal energy and completely dispense with fossil fuels."
Diana Wucher - illwerke vkw AG
"Our heart beats for a future in which sustainability is a living reality. We understand sustainability as our deep commitment to maintaining a balance between ecological care, social justice and economic rationality. Every element of our actions reflects this aspiration. In this way, we take responsibility for our environment, make a positive contribution to society and ensure our economic stability. Our mission is to be a pioneer - through a harmonious combination of environmental awareness, social commitment and smart business management. We strive for top performance and in this spirit we wish the athletes all the best and a successful competition." Website
Conny Amann - Net for children
"For Netz für Kinder, taking part in the Hypo-Meeting in Götzis is a wonderful opportunity to draw attention to those children in Vorarlberg who are not on the sunny side of life.
It is a great pleasure for us to be part of this special event - thank you very much.
We have been committed to opening up new prospects for children for 29 years: We accompany them on their way to a better future, help them find their way out of isolation and build and strengthen social bonds."
"The core message of sustainability at Montfort das Hotel is to embrace and promote ecological and social responsibility in day-to-day business and in all areas of operation. This includes measures such as the use of geothermal energy, the avoidance of disposable products, and the reduction of packaging. Environmentally friendly cleaning agents, the reduction of waste, and the use of environmentally friendly products. Supporting regional and social projects in the form of bee sponsorships, sponsoring a snow hare at Feldkirch Wildlife Park, and supporting the initiative and association "Tischlein Deck dich"." Nachhaltigkeit im Hotel am Garnmarkt
"For us, sustainability isn't just a trend; it's a responsibility we've lived and breathed for many years. We consistently focus on environmentally conscious actions, the careful use of resources, and the promotion of regional products. We're particularly pleased to live this approach as a partner company of the Hypo Meeting – a sporting event that stands for fairness, team spirit, and a sustainable future. With every stay at the Hotel am Garnmarkt, our guests actively contribute to more responsible tourism."
One of the biggest CO2 drivers at an event is mobility. We try to reduce emissions in this area by providing collective transportation for our athletes - with transportation planned as efficiently as possible and using regional companies
As visitors and volunteers, you can help us to become even better:
With the free ticket of the Vorarlberg Transport Association, you can easily travel to and from the train stations St. Margrethen (CH), Buchs (CH), Lindau (D) and St. Anton (Tyrol).
The local bus runs from Götzis railroad station to the Möslestadion: Bus timetable of line 307 and line 302 / stop Mösleweg
It is around 15 minutes on foot from Götzis train station to the Möslestadion and less than the last discipline in the decathlon!
For the particularly sporty, there are plenty of parking spaces for bicycles at the BORG (school opposite the stadium). The advantage: You can park almost directly in front of the main entrance!
We are pleased to continue our cooperation with Tree.ly and would like to draw your attention to this important initiative. Reduce your ecological footprint now and support the forests in our region by purchasing TÜV Austria-certified CO₂ credits. The funds are 100% reinvested into forest management.
One of Tree.ly’s core principles for forest-based climate protection is: First avoid emissions, then reduce them, and finally contribute to our local forest projects.
As the organizers of the Hypomeeting Götzis, we consider fair play to be fundamental. In addition to adhering to the rules of the competition, fair play also means the attitude of all participants.
Our principles:
Recognition of and compliance with the competition rules
Respectful interaction between sports officials, athletes and coaches
Respect for the referees and judges
Respectful behavior of the audience
Respect and consideration for the opponent
"Limiting" the motive for winning (no victory at any price)
Maintaining an attitude in victory and defeat
Our anti-discrimination principles can be found here .
We also support the World Athletics Federation's Safeguarding Policy and the principles on anti-discrimination and protection of participants' rights described therein.
For our anniversary meeting, in addition to the star parade, we organised a
“flag parade”.
We invited 34 children to represent all participating nations with two flags each. The flags were lovingly hand-painted by children from inclusive education programmes, adding a unique and heartfelt touch to the parade.
These children were also invited to take part in the flag parade itself, making the event a true celebration of inclusion.

Air quality
Götzis and the surrounding area are characterized by very good air quality. This is mainly due to the geographical location in the middle of the mountains. The fresh mountain air ensures a naturally clean atmosphere. There is also relatively little traffic in the region, which contributes to lower levels of pollution. This combination leads to exceptionally good air quality, which both locals and visitors appreciate.
To make the whole thing even clearer, this year during the
meeting week and especially on meeting weekends, the air quality will be measured directly
measured directly at the station.
This is made possible by the platform for digital initiatives and in particular the particulate matter cucumberdeveloped by Tino Hager, which is installed in the station for this measurement. The particulate matter cucumber makes measuring particulate matter very easy.
